Botched Bed-In

Gave John Lennon play a chance, but script is awful

At the heart of this play is a decent idea: recreate an influential historical event to give audiences a fly-on-the-wall perspective on history in the making.
To that end, John/Yoko Bed Piece does a commendable job reproducing the Montreal hotel room where ex-Beatle John Lennon (Tom Smart) and Yoko Ono (Sharon Marquez) held their second bed-in for peace back in 1969.

McCartney Live In Halifax

The ex-Beatle announced Wednesday he’s “very
happy” to be performing at an outdoor concert on July 11.

“The Canadian audiences are great and the timing
of the event, with the arrival of the Tall Ships,
means that it will be an exciting event for us
all,” McCartney said on his website. “We are
looking forward to rocking in Halifax.”

Paul McCartney cast in Shrek goes fourth as Rumplestilskin

Rumpelstiltskin is a character in the Shrek film series. He has been given a very small role in his appearances in Shrek 2 and Shrek The Third. In these films, he is voiced by Conrad Vernon. However, Rumpelstiltskin will have a more prominent role as the main villain in Shrek Goes Fourth and he will be voiced by ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. He is based loosely on the fairy-tale character, Rumpelstiltskin, hence his name. The film will be out in 2010.

Artwork by World Famous Beatle Artist Shannon to be Prelude to Rain Concerts
 
 
For the first time in the history of NJPAC, a musical Prelude will not be performed prior to a concert, but instead, the artwork of Shannon ­ The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist will be showcased.
 
 
Ticket holders for Rain-A Tribute to The Beatles shows on June 12-14th at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center will have the privilege of being among the first in the U.S. to set eyes on a gallery showing of several new paintings and eight-featured works of art by Shannon-The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist. These eight pieces are replicas of the paintings Shannon created for the exterior of the Beatles-themed Hard Day’s Night Hotel in Liverpool where they appear etched in the granite.

Items from the life of John Lennon went on display last week at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex in Soho, at 76 Mercer St., in a new exhibit, “John Lennon: The New York City Years.” Co-curated by Yoko Ono, the exhibit includes Lennon’s green card from 1976, below, and letters of support from former Mayor John Lindsay and others, documenting the musician’s fight against deportation for his antiwar views.
