Sir Paul McCartney's son James is to release a solo album later this year, according to reports

By Daily Telegraph Reporter

The 31-year-old, who has always shunned publicity, has spent the past two years working on a record with the assistance of his father.

He is a talented guitarist who has appeared on several of former Beatle Sir Paul’s albums, including the 2001 release Driving Rain. However, he is determined to forge his own path in the music business and at one stage worked as a waiter rather than take an allowance from his multi-millionaire father.

When they first began working together on James’s solo project, a proud Sir Paul said: “I’m actually doing some recording with my son, James. We’re looking at the idea of him making an album. He’s doing it all. He’s writing it all. It’s sensational.”

James is said to be working with former members of Liverpool band The Dead 60s and has written around 20 songs.

A source told the Daily Mail: “James is a very talented singer and an exceptional guitarist. He is actually as good a guitarist as his father and has written some excellent tunes with very good, strong lyrics. Some of it is loud, in the mould of Nirvana, and at other times he is quite mellow, rather like his dad.”

James is brother to Stella, the fashion designer, and Mary, a photographer. Sir Paul also has a five-year-old daughter, Beatrice, from his marriage to Heather Mills.
